PIONEER DAYS-HESPER TOWNSHIP 1851-1941

Fitz William Cleveland was born in Lake county Illinois in 1844. He came to Iowa with his parents, Selby Cleveland, in 1854, and settled upon a government claim on Looking Glass Prairie, where Hugo Noecker now lives. Selby Cleveland ran a broom factory near or north of the creek on the farm. Ruins of the foundation may be seen today. Fitz married Sarah Gates at Burr Oak in 1869.
