C.A. Stedman, a resident of Forest Township,for 35 years, died at his farm, Two miles North of town. on Wed,evening of last week. Mr. Stedman came here in 1862 And during the earlier years of his residence was engaged in educational work. First as a teacher of the town schools And later as county superintendent, a position to which he was elected in 1865, serving two terms. the later years of his life was passed on the farm, where he gained considerable reputation as a HORTICULTURIST, some of the specimens of the fruit grown by him last year and exhibited in town this spring being declared the finest grown in this section. Rev. J. D. Mason was called from Clear Lake, Ia. to take charge of the Obequies And the remains were interred in Oakwood on Friday. Note Oakwood is in the older part of Oakland Cemetery in Forest City. Iowa. Taken from the Forest City, Ia. paper 6-2-1897. Buried in Block E Lot 61 Space 7 Elizabeth 1826-1905 Block E Lot 61 Space 8.
