Ken, hans j knutson left modem,norway in 1853. ingeborg & her sister kjersti dahl ( later to become mrs h g emmons) left hadeland, norway also in 1853. the couple (h j & ingeborg) met in wisconson & were married the same day (april 19,1854). they then journeyed to minnesota in 1856 in the comjpany of nine couples. one of which was knute grunhovd. these were the first familes to settle in the emmons area. the knutsons settled on a farm in sec 10 of norway township. he eventually farmed 360 acres in sec 9 & 10. hans died in march 4,1888. ingeborg died in january 5,1906. he bought the farm with the mustering out pay ($1000) at a tax sale. lewis was born while has was in the army in december 3,1864. caroline ausen & lewis knutson were married on marcdh27,1888. they purchased the farm in feb,1890. lewis had all new buildings built on the farm including a very large home. a replica of the home was bult in emmons when they moved there. there is other information but i tried to be brief. regards Dick
