November 30, 1941 - October 5, 2011FOREST CITY - Sharon Hadacek, age 69, of Forest City, died Wednesday, October 5, 2011, at her home in rural Forest City.
Sharon was born on November 30th, 1941, in Mason City, Iowa, the daughter of Howard and Helen (Brandt) Henderson. She attended kindergarten through twelfth grade in Clear Lake and earned an A.A. Degree at Mason City Junior College (North Iowa Area Community College).
Sharon married Robert L. Hadacek on November 18th, 1961, in Clear Lake. They moved to Forest City in 1972.
Sharon was a dedicated homemaker, mother, and grandmother. She was known for her cooking, particularly her bread making. As a member of St. James Catholic Church in Forest City, she headed numerous church dinners. A talented visual artist and musician, she was also one of the organists at St. James for twenty-five years. In addition, she was a member of Our Lady of Ransom Oratory in Guckeen, Minnesota. She was an avid reader and a prolific gardener.
Sharon is survived by her husband, Robert Hadacek, and their five children: Robert, Jr., (Marla) Hadacek, of Klemme, Iowa, Cathy (Jim) Foos, of Thompson, Iowa, Lori (David) Chaplin, of Nampa, Idaho, Tom (Sue Anne) Hadacek, of Forest City, Iowa, and Michael (Marlena) Hadacek, also of Forest City, Iowa; as well as by thirteen grandchildren. Other survivors include her four siblings: John J. (Cleo) Henderson, of Rochester, Minnesota, Mary (Gary) Malfero, of Mason City, Iowa, Dan (Bonnie) Henderson, of Ireton, Iowa, and David (Laura) Henderson, of Mason City, Iowa; along with eleven nieces and nephews.
Sharon was preceded in death by her mother (March, 2011) and her father (1974).
A Mass of the Resurrection will be celebrated at 11:00 AM on Monday, October 10, 2011, at St. James Catholic Church in Forest City with Fr. Dennis Miller and Fr. Jerome Verdick officiating. Burial will be at St. James Catholic Cemetery in Forest City. Visitation will be from 4:00 to 7:00 PM on Sunday, October 9, 2011, at the Petersen Lund Funeral Home, 505 N. Clark Street, Forest City, with a family led Rosary Service from 4:00 to 4:15 PM and a Scripture Service from 6:46 to 7:00 PM. Visitation will continue an hour prior to services at the church.
