Iva Junore Willert
(March 11, 1920 - June 7, 2011)

Iva J. Willert, 91 of Lake Mills, Iowa, died Tuesday, June 07, 2011, at the Muse Norris Hospice Unit in Mason City, Iowa.

Iva Junore Willert was born on March 11, 1920, in Worth County, Iowa, to Edwin and Hilda (Troe) Hagen. She was baptized and confirmed at the rural Somber Evangelical Lutheran Church.

Iva married Carl Willert on February 24, 1946, at the Evangelical Lutheran Church in Lake Mills. They farmed around this area for many years before they moved into Lake Mills. After securing a position at Compact Industries for eleven years, Iva became the first cook for the congregate meals program, cooking delicious lunches for many of those eleven years.

Iva enjoyed vegetable gardening and tending her flower beds. She was very active at the Lake Mills Evangelical Lutheran Church and with the Ladies Aid Society. She was also active in the American Legion Auxiliary in Lake Mills.

Following her retirement, Iva took some painting classes which really started her passion for oil painting. She especially enjoyed doing oil paintings for her family. She and Carl also spent time making crafts and taking both the paintings and crafts to shows around the state.

Iva is survived by her three children, Ruth Furness, of Lake Mills, Iowa, Amy Tweed, of Albany, New York, and Edward (Deb) Willert, of Shell Rock, Iowa; seven granddaughters, Jody (Glenn) Thada, of Garner, Iowa, Cathy (Randy) Jensen, of Harlan, Iowa, Debbie Willert, of Metairie, Lousiana, Karla (Pat) McKilligan, of Waterloo, Iowa, Teresa Moore, and fiancé, Bill, of Stout, Iowa, Staci Willert, and fiancé, Greg, of North Liberty, Iowa, and Erin (Eric) Wood, of Albany, New York; two step-granddaughters, Lori (Eric) Risius, of Hampton, Illinois, and Mindy Hauser, of Nashua, Iowa; sixteen great-grandchildren, Danielle (Cory) Graham, of Garner, Iowa, Jeremy Schulze, of Mason City, Iowa, Josh (Heather) Schulze, of Clear Lake, Iowa, Andrew and Victoria Jensen, of Harlan, Iowa, Taylor (Kenny) McClelland, of San Diego, California, Christian and Connor Chapman, of Baton Rouge, Lousiana, Ryan (Heather) Richard, of Cedar Falls, Iowa, Danny (Myranda) Richard, of Waterloo, Iowa, David Moore, of Afghanistan, Jade and Josie Moore, of Washburn, Iowa, Macayla Willert, of Waterloo, Iowa, and Kirstin and Hailey Wood, of Albany, New York; and two step-great-grandsons, Jack and Will Risius, of Hampton, Illinois.

She is also survived by nine great-great-grandchildren, Morgan, Jared, Trevor, and Kyle Graham, Scyler Schulze, Ellie and Brook Schulze, and Reagan and Riley Richard; a sister, Marilyn Stevens, of White Bear Lake, Minnesota; her brothers, Lyle (MaryLou) Hagen, of Cedar Falls, Iowa, David (Helen) Hagen, of Charles City, Iowa, and Ervin (Linda) Hagen, of Osage, Iowa; her sisters-in-law, Ruby Hagen, of Ragley, Lousiana, Ardella Hagen, of Northwood, Iowa, Agnes Thompson, of Cambridge, Minnesota, Irine Peterson, of Thompson, Iowa, and Emma Knapper, of Thompson, Iowa; and many nieces and nephews.

Iva was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Carl, in 2007; her daughter, Barbara; two sons-in-law, Jerry Furness and Vince Tweed; a sister, Elaine Olson; and three brothers, Leo, Clarion, and Merle Hagen.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 AM on Saturday, June 11, 2011, at the Lake Mills Evangelical Lutheran Church in Lake Mills with Pastor Erich Hoeft officiating. Burial will take place in the Lake Mills Synod Cemetery.

Visitation will be on Friday, June 10, 2011, from 6:00 to 8:00 PM at the Mittelstadt Funeral Home, 902 East Main Street, Lake Mills and will continue one hour prior to services at the church on Saturday.

Memorials may be directed to the Lake Mills Synod Lutheran Church Cemetery Fund.
