(April 3, 1949 - December 25, 2010)

Mark Clifford Syverson, 61, of Lexington, South Carolina, formerly of Lake Mills, Iowa, died Saturday, December 25, 2010, at his home.

Mark Clifford Syverson, son of Dr. Clifford L. and Dorothy M. Syverson, was born on April 3, 1949, in Lake Mills, Iowa. Mark graduated from Lake Mills High School in 1967 and became Band Leader and Business Manager of “Windfall”, performing as a keyboardist, guitarist and vocalist from 1975 to 1979.

Mark earned a BGS in 1983 and a MA in 1992 in Speech and Drama/Radio-TV-Film from the University of Kansas (“KU”) in Lawrence, Kansas. During his tenure at KU, Mark was a Graduate Teaching Assistant from 1984 to 1987, and served as Executive Director of the Kansas Film Institute from 1984 to 1991. Mark was employed as Business and Production Manager for Magic Visions from 1987 to 1994 and as VP/Business Manager of 21st Century Sound and Vision, Inc., in Lawrence, Kansas, from 1994 to 2005.

In 2005, Mark retired and moved to Columbia, South Carolina, where he continued to do business consulting and film consulting on a local television show and wrote political articles for local newspapers. Mark was a numismatics consultant and member of the American Numismatic Association, and he served as a member of the Electrical Engineering Technology Advisory Committee at ITT Technical Institute.

Mark is survived by an uncle Leslie “Art” Syverson of Fergus Falls, Minnesota, and other extended relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents and his brother, Dean Syverson, on December 22, 2010.

Memorial services will be held at 1:30 PM, Saturday, June 11, 2011, at the Asbury United Methodist Church with Pastor Wendi Gillan officiating.

Family will greet friends on hour prior to the service at the church.

Inurnment will take place at Sunnyside Cemetery in Lake Mills, Iowa.
