Joseph "Joe" John Winklbauer
(April 4, 1942 - February 19, 2010)

Joseph John “Joe” Winklbauer, age 67, of Lake Mills, died Friday, February 19, 2010, at the Albert Lea Medical Center in Albert Lea, Minnesota.

Joseph John Winklbauer, the son of Eddie and Harriet (Popp) Kamish, was born on April 4, 1942, in Madison County, Wisconsin. He attended school in Manly, Iowa. Following his education, he was drafted into the United States Army and served from 1960 until his honorable discharge in 1963. Joe spent most of his time stationed in Germany.

Joe was united in marriage with Wendy Lynn and helped raise her four children: Chase Coleman, Crystal Cox, Stacey Mattson, Tracey Koziolek.

He lived the majority of his life in Lake Mills serving as a part time police officer and working at Deluxe Products, later Fleetguard Industries, in Lake Mills. He retired from Fleetguard at the age of 55. Joe enjoyed gardening and spending time on his computer.

Joe is survived by his son, John Winklbauer of Lake Mills; two grandchildren, Katie Ralston of Fertile, IA, and Christopher McBride of Neosho, MO; former wife, Wendy and her children, Chase Coleman, Crystal Cox, Stacey Mattson, Tracey Koziolek; three brothers, Bob Kamish of Albert Lea, MN, Gary (Bunny) Kamish of St. Paul, MN, and Richard Kamish of St. Paul, MN; and other extended relatives.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a daughter, Lisa Marie Winklbauer; sister, Eunice Rinnels; brother, Jim Kamish; and twin brother John Joseph Winklbauer who died at birth.

Visitation with his family will be from 4:00 to 6:00 PM on Tuesday, February 23, 2010, at Mittelstadt Funeral Home, 902 East Main Street, Lake Mills. The flag will be presented to his son, John, at the conclusion of the visitation, by members of the Otto/Chose Post #235 in Lake Mills.

Inurnment will take place at a later date at the Lake Mills Synod Evangelical Lutheran Cemetery in Lake Mills.
