Ralph L. Johnson, 88, of Forest City, died on Thursday, December 14, 2017, at the Muse Norris Hospice Inpatient Unit in Mason City, Iowa.

Ralph LaVoy Johnson was born in Thompson, Iowa, on December 23, 1928, to Carl and Leila Johnson. The oldest of four siblings, Ralph grew up in Madison Township and attended school in Hayfield and Forest City. After graduating, he began farming, living out his passion for over six-five years. Ralph and Sheryl (Pitkin) married on August 31, 1951. They, subsequently, enjoyed sixty-six years together and were blessed with three children. Ralph enjoyed farming, collecting tractors, his grand and great grandchildren, and actively participating in his church.

Ralph is survived by his wife, Sheryl; his children, Laurel (Andrew) Mayberry, of Savage, Minnesota, and Greg Johnson (Connie Forbes), of Forest City; his grandchildren: Jen (Ben) Jaeger, of Mapleton, Minnesota, Melissa (Del) Peterson, of Moorhead, Minnesota, Tyler Johnson, of Pomona, California, and Courtney (Keaton) Schauermann, of Forest City; nine great grandchildren; and his sister, Margaret (David) Abbey, of Greeneville, Tennessee. He was preceded in death by his parents; his son, Bradley Robb Johnson; and his siblings, Harvey and Lyle Johnson.

Funeral services will be held at 10:00 A.M, December 20, 2017, at the Calvary Baptist Church, 636 N. Best Street, Forest City, Iowa, with Pastor Doug Farrell as well as Revs. Todd and David Abbey officiating. Visitation will take place Tuesday, December 19, 2017, from 4:00 to 7:00 P.M. at the Cataldo Schott Funeral Chapel, 505 N. Clark Street, Forest City, Iowa. Burial will follow at the Madison Township Cemetery in Forest City. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to Hospice of North Iowa or the Calvary Baptist Church special fund.
