August 8, 1921 - August 12, 2016Ardis C. Helvick, 95, of Forest City, died on Friday, August 12, 2016, at Mercy Medical Center North Iowa in Mason City.
Ardis was born on August 8, 1921, near Leland, Iowa, to Rudolph and Nettie (Carlson) Branstad. She was married forty-seven years to Donavon Helvick who preceded her in death.
A long-time member of Immanuel Lutheran Church in Forest City, Ardis belonged to many other special groups as well. Nonetheless, each day, as a dedicated partner, farm wife, and mother, she made certain to take care of her family in a loving manner.
She will be dearly missed by her daughter, Diane Jackson, of Minneapolis, Minnesota; her sons, Allen (Lois), of Plymouth, Minnesota, Steven (Mary Ellen), of Dawsonville, Georgia, and Paul, of Seattle, Washington; six grandchildren; sixteen great grandchildren; her brothers, Rollin Branstad, of Decatur, Illinois, and Dennis Branstad, of Gaithersburg, Maryland, and her sister, Ruth Westerberg, of Leland, Iowa; as well as by many nieces and nephews, grand nieces and nephews, and great-grand nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 P.M., Saturday, August 20, 2016 at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Forest City with Pastor Rod Hopp officiating. Visitation will be from 12:30 until the time of service at the church on Saturday. Burial will follow in Oakland Cemetery. Memorials may be directed to Immanuel Lutheran Church, Forest City, and Mercy Hospice.
