Nancy Jensvold
May 18, 1940 - December 27, 2015

Nancy Jensvold passed peacefully from this life at the age of 75 after a long battle with Progressive Supranuclear Palsy. She was at home surrounded by her husband of 56 years, her children, many of her grandchildren, and lots of love.

Nancy was born on May 18, 1940, in Forest City, Iowa, to Frank J. and Eleanora D. (Hauge) Kamish. Baptized and confirmed at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Forest City, she graduated from the Forest City-Leland Community School District in 1958. She, then, attended Waldorf College where she studied teaching and sang with the Waldorf Concert Choir.

On December 22, 1959, Nancy married William R. Jensvold at Immanuel Lutheran Church. Over the span of twenty years, Bill and Nancy welcomed five children into their lives. Nancy’s “brats” remember her as a kind, loving, and playful mother, who had a great sense of humor and loved them unconditionally. She instilled in each of them an appreciation for music, a dedication to serve others, and an ability to find joy and laughter in even the most heartbreaking circumstances. The Jensvold home was always a welcoming place where no one went hungry or was a stranger. Over the years, countless friends and family were welcomed into their home, including five foreign exchange students: Line Søgaard (Norway), Chie Sarai (Japan), Kristin Alderslyst (Norway), Ben Weide (Germany), and Irina Balyurko (Russia) - many of whom still communicated with her even after all these years.

An accomplished pianist, Nancy shared her love of music with others. For many years, she played the organ at Bethlehem Lutheran Church, taught piano lessons, and sang with the church choir. In addition, for several years, she worked in the administrative office at the family owned farm implement dealership, Jensvold, Inc. Then, she worked for many years at the Timely Mission Nursing Home - first as an aide and later as Assistant Activities Coordinator. An active and dedicated member of the Buffalo Center Volunteer Ambulance Crew for many years, she came to be known fondly by all as “Ma.”

Nancy is survived by her husband, Bill Jensvold; her children, Bill (Dawn) Jensvold, Lynn (Mark) Beenken, and Heidi (Mitch) Engelbarts, all of Buffalo Center, Ann (Mark) Tendall, of Miller, Iowa, and Sarah (Rob) Slover, of Bloomington, Indiana; her siblings, Mary Beth Wooldridge, of Forest City, Iowa, and Frank (Brenda) Kamish, of Moravia, Iowa; and a continually expanding number of grandchildren and great grandchildren.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Frank and Eleanora Kamish; her brother, Delyle, his wife, Willadean Kamish, and her nephew, Ed Kamish, all of Portland, Oregon; her brother-in-law, Jim Wooldridge; and her nephew, Seth Wooldridge, of Forest City, Iowa.

In lieu of flowers, please send donations to Cure PSP at http://www.psp.org/donate/ways-to-give.html . Nancy and family have so many to thank for their thoughts, prayers, and assistance over these past several years. Special thanks to the Winnebago County Public Health Service for the many home services they offered over the years; also heartfelt thanks to Danielle Shelton, Leeanna Lunn, and Cierra Friedl for their patience, love and understanding as they cared for Nancy and allowed her to remain at home. Finally, we thank United Hands Hospice for loving and guiding us through her final stages with PSP.

"And God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes; and there shall be no more death, neither sorrow, nor crying, neither shall there be any more pain: for the former things are passed away." -Revelations 21:4

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m., Thursday, at Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Buffalo Center with Pastor Nate Hedin-Schmidt officiating. Burial will follow at Graceland Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m., Wednesday, at church.
