U.S. Veteran Tracy S. Harang, age 53, of Lake Mills, died on Friday, December 25, 2015, at the Muse Norris Hospice Inpatient Unit in Mason City, Iowa.

A memorial service will be held at a later date in the spring of 2016 with military honors conducted by the Otto Chose Post #235 of Lake Mills. Memorials may be directed to Tracy’s family at 517 Central Avenue, Northwood, Iowa 50459.

Tracy Stewart Harang, a son of Richard and Joan (Bly) Harang, was born on February 6, 1962, in Albert Lea, Minnesota. While attending school in Lake Mills, he participated in wrestling and qualified for the state tournament. Following his schooling, he enlisted in the United States Army.

After he was honorably discharged from the service, Tracy worked with his cousin in Des Moines washing windows before moving back to Lake Mills. Once back home, he scrapped iron and helped his dad and brother, Bill, on the farm. Eventually, however, he spent many years working at Dave’s 66 Station and later for Kevin Sprecher at the S & S Redemption Center in Lake Mills.

Tracy enjoyed sports, particularly football and the Indianapolis Colts. He liked to watch the Iowa Hawkeyes, fish, and spend time with his friends uptown in Lake Mills.

Survivors include his mother, Joan Harang, of Lake Mills, Iowa; two sisters, Peggy (Alan) Palmer, of Northwood, Iowa, and Christina (Timothy) Kockler, of St. George, Utah; his nieces and nephews, Monica (Chris) Heino, and their children, Selah and Hudson, of Minneapolis, Minnesota; Samantha (Lonnie) Davis, and their daughters, MacKenzie and Madilynn, of Northwood, Iowa; Blake (Lynn) Palmer, of Superior, Wisconsin; Wiley Harang, of Hayfield, Minnesota; and Chloé, Caitlin, and Cole Kockler, all of St. George, Utah; as well as some really great friends, Kevin Sprecher, Dave Anderson, and Ray Harang; and a special friend, Carole Summers; along with several cousins he held dear.

He was preceded in death by his grandparents; his dad, Richard; and two brothers, John and Bill; and a close friend, Richard Kindervag.
