July 29, 1942 - December 6, 2015

FOREST CITY – Edward J. Reineke, 73, of Forest City, died on Sunday, December 6, 2015, at Mission, Texas.

Edward Joseph Reineke, a son of Anton and Loretta (Olberding) Reineke, was born on July 29, 1942, in Randolph, Nebraska. At any early age, he moved with his family to Forest City where he attended school. On March 2, 1973, he married Susan Jones in Forest City. They made their home in Forest City where they raised their family. Ed worked in construction for a few years before working in the sanitation department for the City of Forest City. Eventually, however, he began working at Winnebago Industries in the sidewall/roof department, a job he held for thirty-eight years. In addition, he farmed west of Forest City for many years. For the past six years, Ed and Susan wintered in Mission, Texas. He enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren, savoring the outdoors, tinkering with small gas engines, collecting John Deere toy tractors, and woodworking. He was a member of St. James Catholic Church in Forest City.

Ed is survived by his wife, Susan, of Forest City; three daughters, Kim (Tim) Dakken and Nicole Fiedler, all of Forest City, and Julie (Doug) Blumer, of Springville, Iowa; two grandchildren, Joshua Dakken and Abby Fiedler; two brothers, Adolph (Bonnye) Reineke and David (Donna) Reineke, both of Forest City; and a sister, Evelyn (Duane) Vrieze, also of Forest City; as well as by many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; an infant brother, Anton, Jr.; a step-son, Joel Haugen; and two sisters, Rosemary and Helen Reineke.

Funeral services will be held 10:30 A.M., Saturday, December 12, 2015, at St. James Catholic Church in Forest City with Fr. Jim Dubert officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Visitation will be from 4:00 to 7:00 P.M., Friday, December 11, 2015, at the Cataldo Schott Funeral Home, 505 N. Clark St., in Forest City and will continue one hour prior to services at the church.
