April 17, 1922 - September 14, 2015GARNER – Jerome A. Heimer, 93, of Garner, died on Monday, September 14, 2015, at the Good Samaritan Society in Forest City.
Jerome Albert Heimer, a son of Joseph and Elizabeth (Smith) Heimer, was born on April 17, 1922, in Stacyville, Iowa. He attended Visitation School in Stacyville. On August 27, 1952, he married Joan Loecher in Stacyville. From 1952 until 1969, he worked as the manager of the Co-op Oil Station in Stacyville. Next, he was employed at Winnebago Industries until he retired in 1984. A member of St. Boniface Catholic Church in Garner, he enjoyed playing cards and picking up cans.
Jerome is survived by his wife of sixty-three years, Joan Heimer, of Garner; six children, Dwaine (Karen) Heimer, of Stacyville, Joellen Johnson, of Olympia, Washington, Julie (Paul) Kingsbury, of Brooklyn Park, Minnesota, Joyce (David) Morud, of Nora Springs, Iowa, Corrine (Fred) Breitsprecker, of Ames, and Daryl (Jostin) Heimer, of Garner; a daughter-in-law, Syd Heimer, of Osage; twelve grandchildren; nineteen great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his oldest son, Dale; an infant son; a grandson, Logan Bruns; twin infant great-grandchildren; and twelve siblings.
A gathering of family friends will be held from 5:00 to 7:00 P.M., Wednesday, September 23, 2015 at the Cataldo Funeral Chapel in Garner with a Scriptural wake service at 7:00 P.M, Fr. Melvin Hemann officiating. Inurnment will follow at a later date in St. James Catholic Cemetery in Forest City. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the Jerome Heimer Memorial Fund.
