(February 16, 1946 - September 8, 2015)

Patrick “Pat” R. McGurk, 69 of Lake Mills, Iowa, died on Tuesday, September 08, 2015, at Mikkelson Park near New Hampton, Iowa, while attending the Davis Motorcycle Rally.

Patrick Richard McGurk was born on February 16, 1946, in Oxford, England, to Clarence and Violet (Greene) McGurk. As a teenager, he along with his family moved to America and settled in the Mason City area. Pat attended Holy Family School and Mason City Public School where he earned his high school diploma. Then, he worked numerous jobs, eventually accumulating over thirty years at Fleetguard, Inc., in Lake Mills.

A caring and compassionate husband, father, and grandfather, Pat centered his life around his family. He will be remembered for his fun and outgoing nature. Often, he could be found hunting, fishing, and spending time outdoors tending to his animals on the farm. Otherwise, he spent his free time enjoying his motorcycle, playing pool, and joining friends at lutefisk suppers.

Pat is survived by his wife, Darla; his daughter, Lisa (Tim) Jurgens, of Forest City; his sons, John (Carie) McGurk, of Puyallup, Washington, Darin (Ronda) Schroader, of Lake Mills, and Ryan Schroader, of Kiester, Minnesota; his grandchildren, Alyss, Ashlynn, Harley, Josh, Kay, Kylee, Lexi, Melissa, Sophia, and Tyler; a great-granddaughter, McKinsley; and his two sisters-in-law, Rita and Jody Wiggins.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Clarence and Violet McGurk; his brothers, Roy and Graham Wiggins; a sister, Irene Hall; and a grandson, Noah William.

Funeral services will be held at 1:30 PM on Friday, September 11, 2015, at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in Lake Mills with Father Paul Lippstock officiating. Inurnment will take place at a later date. Visitation will be on Thursday, September 10, 2015, from 5:00 to 8:00 PM with a scriptural wake service at 7:00 PM at the Mittelstadt Funeral Home, 902 East Main Street, Lake Mills.
