Bob D. Holland, 82, of Forest City, passed away on Sunday, March 15, 2015, at the Good Samaritan Society after a long battle with Alzheimer’s.

A son of Elmer and Alta (Kuns) Holland, Bob was born on April 18, 1932. In 1951, he graduated from Forest City High School. He married Zudavee Smith on June 5, 1952. To their union, four children were born.

Bob and Carmen enjoyed traveling to many places including Colorado, Alaska, and Hawaii. For the winter months, they, especially, looked forward to their stay at Hot Springs, Arkansas. Moreover, Bob enjoyed camping and spending time with his family. He, always, had a smile on his face and a twinkle in his eye when he saw his grandchildren.

Bob enjoyed serving his community. He took great pride in helping others. Indeed, he put in seventeen years with the Forest City Ambulance Service. Also of great importance in his life, he believed in serving the Lord and sharing his joy of the Savior with others. He prayed that everyone would come to love the Lord as he did. Moreover, he felt honored to serve in many capacities at his church. He will be remembered for his firm handshake and his friendly welcoming smile.

Those remaining to cherish his memory included Carmen, his wife of thirty-three years; his children, Pam Julius (Rodney Claude), of Dows, Iowa, Phyllis Holland, of Catawissa, Missouri, Anthony Holland, of Duluth, Minnesota, Darla Beck, of Forest City, Iowa, Dawn (John) Brock, also of Forest City, Iowa, and Cynthia Simms, of Baltimore, Maryland; his sister, Wanda Larson, of Kiron, Iowa, and his brother-in-law, Farrell Reese, of Clinton, Iowa; sixteen grandchildren and twenty-three great grandchildren; as well as several nieces, nephews, cousins, and countless friends.
