Eugene F. Kirschbaum, age 95, of Mason City, died on Monday, December 15, 2014, at the Muse Norris Hospice Inpatient Unit.

Eugene F. Kirschbaum was born on the farm on November 7, 1919, in rural Woden, Iowa, to Aloyus and Golda (Gordon) Kirschbaum. He attended Crystal Lake School and began farming with his father in rural Crystal Lake. On January 3, 1941, he married Geneva Gelner. They moved to a rural Hanlontown farm in 1944 where he continued to farm and do carpenter work until he retired. They were members of Saint James Parish in Forest City for many years. Geneva passed away in 1982.

Eugene enjoyed horses, woodworking, making things with his hands, and making things for his family. He enjoyed his grandchildren.

in 1985, he married Madonna Chodur. They lived on the farm before moving to Mason City.

Eugene is survived by his wife, Madonna; his daughter, Linda (Myron) Halvorson, Tolna, North Dakota; his daughters-in-law, Catherine, of Clear Lake, and Gloria, of Fertile; eight grandchildren: Kristen Anderson; Michelle (Terry) Calkins; Wade (Lisa) Halvorson; Erik (Brenda), John, John (Kathy), and Karl (Tisha) Kirschbaum; and Melissa (Philip) McHenry; fifteen great grandchildren; his sister, Marjorie Vavrik, of Clear Lake; and his step-children: Sheila, Dennis, Renee, Barbara, Philip, Catherine, Nancy, Jovita, Mary, Joseph, and Jennifer.

Eugene is preceded in death by his parents; his first wife, Geneva; his granddaughter, Beth Ann; his sons, Edward and Tom; his brothers, Ray, Cecil, and Vincent; and his sisters, Darlene and Mae.

A funeral mass will be offered at 10:30 A.M. on Friday, December 19, 2014, at Epiphany Parish, Holy Family Catholic Church, 714 North Adams, Mason City, Iowa, with Rev. Neil Manternach officiating. A visitation of family and friends will be held from 5:00 to 7:00 P.M. with a Scriptural Wake Service at 6:30 P.M., Thursday, December 18, 2014, at the Major Erickson Funeral Home, 111 N Pennsylvania Ave, Mason City. Interment will be at the St. James Catholic Cemetery in Forest City, Iowa.
