Lois E. "Myrt" McColloch
February 12, 1924 - September 2, 2014

Lois E."Myrt" McColloch, 90, of Forest City, died on Tuesday, September 2, 2014, at the Good Samaritan Center in Forest City.

Lois E. McColloch, a daughter of Frank and Esther (Yarish) Murtagh, was born on February 12, 1924. As a teenager, she attended Forest City High School, graduating in 1942. On May 26, 1943, she married Chester McColloch at the St. James Rectory in Forest City. Indeed, she was a longtime member of St. James Catholic Church.

Myrt worked part-time for the Rationing Board, Sahr Produce, the Forest City Schools, and Winnebago County. A full-time homemaker, she enjoyed tending to her home, taking care of her children, and baking. In addition, she liked reading, playing scrabble, spending time with family and friends, especially with her grandchildren, and having coffee with friends at Hardees. She loved to socialize and will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved her.

Lois is survived by her children, Geraldine (Bill) Helfter, of Forest City, Scott( Sue) McColloch, of Fertile, Dan McColloch, and his special friend, Kathy Faber, also of Fertile; her daughter-in-law, Sunny Dawn McColloch; seven grandchildren, Holly (Bob) Frary; Jay (Tina) and Shane (Stacia) Hoff; Cheryl Letcher; Katlyn (special friend, Nick Salisbury), Mitchell, (fiancée, Stephanie Stone), and Patrick (Sara) McColloch; and eleven great-grandchildren; as well as by many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Chester McColloch; her son, Patrick McColloch; and two brothers, Tom and Glenn Murtagh.

Visitation will be held from 5:00 to 7:00 P.M., Friday, September 5, 2014, at the Petersen Lund Funeral Home, 505 N. Clark St. Forest City, Iowa, with a rosary recited at 5:00 P.M. A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at 10:00 A.M., Saturday, September 6, 2014, at St. James Catholic Church in Forest City, Father Paul Lippstock officiating. A private family burial of cremains will take place at St. James Cemetery at a later date. Memorials may be directed to the Lois E. McColloch Memorial Fund in care of the family.
