Sandra K. Hanson, 67, of Forest City, died peacefully at her home surrounded by her family on Saturday, August 30, 2014.

Sandra K. Hanson was born on June 3, 1947, in Mason City, Iowa, a daughter of Everett and Dorothy (Stangler) Hanson. After graduating from Britt High School in 1976, she married Richard Hanson on September 1, 1979, in Crystal Lake, Iowa. For many years, she worked for Winnebago Industries as well as at the Winnebago County Home and the Forest City Community Hospital.

Sandra enjoyed crocheting, quilting, and sewing. Many times, she donated her many afghans, baby blankets, and quilts for others to enjoy. She also liked watching NASCAR, reading prolifically, and going camping with her family. Indeed, she treasured her family, and she enjoyed the time she spent with them all, especially with her grandchildren. She will always be remembered for her hugs and kisses and the generosity and love she showed everyone. She will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved her.

Sandra is survived by her husband, Richard Hanson, of Forest City; her children, Kevin (Mary) Ganseveld, of Forest City, John Ganseveld, of Garner, Jodi (Dale) Degner, of Dysart, Iowa, Chad (Marcy) Hanson, of Forest City, and Tanya Droessler, of Forest City; fourteen grandchildren and three great-grandchildren; her brother, Du Wayne (Deb) Hanson, of San Antonio, Texas and her sister, Rosalyn (Wayne) Berhow, of Kanawha; as well as by many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents.

Visitation will take place from 4:00 to 7:00 P.M., Tuesday, September 2, 2014, at the Petersen Lund Funeral Home, 505 North Clark St, Forest City, Iowa, with a prayer service at 6:00 P.M. Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 A.M., Wednesday, September 3, 2014, at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Forest City with Rev. Rodd Hopp officiating. A private family inurnment will follow at Madison Township Cemetery in Forest City. The family requests that in lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the Sandra K. Hanson memorial fund in care of the family.
