Ted Lewison, 86, of Forest City, died on Tuesday, March 11, 2014, at the Muse Norris Hospice Inpatient Unit in Mason City.

Ted Lewison was born on December 25, 1927, to L. T. and Irene (Duea) Lewison in Story City. He served in the United States Marine Corps from August 27, 1946, until December 5, 1952, when he was honorably discharged. He furthered his education at Waldorf College, graduating with a Liberal Arts Degree in 1952. On September 4, 1951, he married Alice Bartleson at Immanuel Lutheran Church, Forest City. For many years, he worked for Hanson Furniture and Funeral Home. Eventually, however, he retired from Winnebago Industries after spending twenty-one years in the Stitchcraft Division.

Ted enjoyed wood carving, fishing, cooking, and relaxing at their cabin in Minnesota. Nonetheless, he enjoyed spending time with his family above all else. A member of Immanuel Lutheran Church, he served as an usher and on the church council. He also served as a Boy Scout leader. Sensitive to the needs of others, he helped care for his parents-in-laws and brother-in-law, Rich, for many years. He will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved him.

He is survived by his wife, Alice, of Forest City; his daughter, Jill (Randy) Nedved, of Garner, and their children: Sara (Dan) Allen, and their son, Hudson, of Clear Lake, Keri (Gus) Byom, and their children Clay, Kailyn, and Camren, of Garner, Will Nedved, of Los Angeles, California, Kate (Brian) Irving, and their daughter, Quinn, of Oradell, New Jersey, and Blake (Ashley) Nedved, of West Des Moines; his daughter, Julie (Jon) Nordaas, of Manchester, and their children: Lindsey Nordaas, of Iowa City, and Jake Nordaas, of Des Moines; his son, Jeff (Deena) Lewison, of Forest City, and their children: Zach Lewison, of Mason City, Alec (Nicole) Lewison, of Eielson AFB, Arkansas, and Molly Lewison, of Forest City; his sister, Helen (Bob) Peterson, of Charles City; his brother, Paul (Verna) Lewison, of Anamosa; his sister-in-law, Norma (Dennis) Hillesland, of Spring Valley, Minnesota; his brother-in-law, Gus (JoAnn) Bartleson, of Forest City, and his sister-in-law, Eunice (Mel) McCarthy, of Kellogg; as well as by many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, L.T. and Irene (Duea) Lewison; his son, Jay, in 1981; his father- and mother-in-law, George and Myrtle Bartleson; and his brother in-law, Richard Bartleson.

Memorial Services will be held at 10:30 A.M. Friday, March 14, 2014, at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Forest City with Rev. Rod Hopp officiating. A gathering of family and friends will be held from 5:00-7:00 P.M., Thursday, March 13, 2014, at the Petersen Lund Funeral Home, 505 North Clark St. and will continue one hour prior to services at the church on Friday. Inurnment will be held in Oakland Cemetery at a later date.
