Robert H. Brekken
(February 6, 1930 - November 19, 2013)

Robert (Bob) Brekken, 83, of Mission, Texas, and Siren, Wisconsin, passed away at the Lutheran Retirement Home in Northwood on Tuesday, November 19, 2013.

Robert Harold Brekken was born on February 6, 1930, the son of Iver and Mabel (Brustad) Brekken. He attended and graduated from Scarville High School.

On June 28, 1952, Bob married Donna Odelle Gunderson at West Prairie Lutheran Church in rural Leland.

As a farmer for thirty-seven years in the Scarville area, Bob was constantly thinking about his enterprise, always wondering how the crops were doing.

Bob enjoyed fishing on Mud Hen Lake in Wisconsin. An avid golfer, he even hit a hole-in-one. He liked to bowl and enjoyed his bowling team friends. He also loved to play cards, especially a game he made for many in his shop; he called the game “Social Security.” Of all his pastimes, however, he treasured woodworking in his garage and visiting with neighbors the most.

Bob is survived by his wife, Donna; two daughters, Julie (Marv) Krueger, of Golden, Colorado, and Ann (Shawn) Stone, of Noblesville, Indiana, and a son, David (Lori) Brekken, of Lake Mills, Iowa; six grandsons: Kyle (Kim) Krueger, of Highlands Ranch, Colorado, Jason (Abbie) Brekken, of Ham Lake, Minnesota, Grant and Peter Brekken, both of Golden Valley, Minnesota, Jacob Brekken, of Cedar Falls, Iowa, and Cameron Stone, of Noblesville, Indiana; and one granddaughter, Chloe Stone, of Noblesville, Indiana; his sister Carolyn (Glenn) Severson, of Flower Mound, Texas; and his brother, Richard (Deanna) Brekken, of Springfield, Missouri; along with many nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents and his brothers, Elwood and Irving Brekken.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 AM, Saturday, November 23, 2013, at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Scarville, Iowa, with Pastor Randy Baldwin officiating. Visitation will be from 4:00-7:00 PM, Friday, November 22, 2013, at the Mittelstadt Funeral Home, 902 East Main Street, Lake Mills, and again one hour prior to the service at the church. Burial will take place at North Prairie Lutheran Cemetery in rural Scarville.
