(January 3, 1942 - October 18, 2008)

Gary Peterson, age 66, of Buffalo Center, died Saturday, October 18, 2008, at the Muse-Norris Hospice Inpatient Unit in Mason City.

Gary Peterson, the son of Ernest and Marie (Hutchins) Peterson, was born in Forest City, Iowa, on January 3, 1942. He married Nancy Frerichs on August 10, 1968. Starting their life together in Thompson, they, then, moved to Lake Mills before relocating to Buffalo Center.

Gary retired from FleetGuard after forty years of employment. Since then, he had enjoyed engaging in many and various hobbies, spending time with family, traveling, and taking family vacations. A man of few words, he always relied on his actions to tell others what he was thinking.

Gary is survived by: his wife, Nancy; his daughter, Sandra Bunde, and husband, Kory, of Good Thunder, Minnesota; his son, Michael, and Melanie Wirth, of Thompson, Iowa; his grandson, Jason Peterson; his step-grandson, Dawson Bunde; his brother, Art Peterson, and his wife, Renee, of Waseca, Minnesota; and his sister, Jo Ann Jobes, and her husband, Wayne.

Gary was preceded in death by his parents; his sister, Carolyn; his father-in-law, Nanne, and his sister-in-law, Shirley Stecker.

Visitation was Monday, October 20, 2008, from 5:00 to 7:00 PM at the Winter Funeral Home in Buffalo Center. Funeral services for Gary were held at 10:30 AM on Tuesday, October 21, 2008, at the First Congregational Church in Buffalo Center, Pastor David Langer officiating. Burial followed at Rose Hill Cemetery in Thompson.
