(March 4, 1982 - November 4, 2012)Katherine “Kathy” Anne Thorson, 30, of rural Lake Mills, Iowa, died Sunday, November 4, 2012, at her home.
Katherine Anne Thorson was born on March 4, 1982, in Rochester, Minnesota, the daughter of Jeffrey and Jennifer R. “Janey” (Squires) Roell. She came into this world screaming and fighting as a tiny premature baby girl and remained feisty all her life. Yet, she was blessed with a heart of gold and was as soft as a marshmallow.
She married Travis Thorson in Winnebago County on October 25, 2010.
Raised a Navy brat, Kathy lived as an Army wife, proud of Travis serving in the Army and of her dad, grandpa, and brother all having served in the Navy. Indeed, she loved the ocean.
Centered on her family, Kathy loved her role as wife and mother. She thought the world of her boys. She had worked hard to earn her GED and was proud of having completed her CAN training. She loved dogs and had just recently started working at Kimi’s Precious Treasures helping to raise dogs. She also loved watching “Murder She Wrote” re-runs on Netflix. Kathy was a wonderful person taken way too early.
She is survived by her loving husband, Travis Thorson; her boys, Kevin Jeffrey Charles Roell (13) and Blane Harold Ray Thorson (3); her stepsons, Hunter Harlan Thorson (10) and Kael Lee Thorson (9), all of rural Lake Mills, Iowa; her parents, Jeff and Janey Roell, of Albert Lea, Minnesota; her sister, Shelly Roell, also of Albert Lea, Minnesota; her brother, John Roell, and his fiancée, Catherine Rudloff, of Norfolk, Virginia; her mother- and father-in-law, Donald and Kathie Thorson, of Forest City, Iowa; her sister-in-law, Tina Thorson, and her daughter, Kylee McGurck, of Lake Mills, Iowa; her maternal grandmother, Bernice Beers, of Emmons, Minnesota; and her paternal grandmother, Rose Roell, of Albert Lea, Minnesota; along with several aunts, uncles, other relatives, and friends.
