Ordean Fredrickson
(April 15, 1937 - September 6, 2008)

FOREST CITY - Ordean F. Fredrickson, age 71, of Forest City, died Saturday, September 6, 2008, at Mercy Medical Center North Iowa in Mason City after an accident.

Ordean Franklin Fredrickson was born in Forest City, Iowa, on April 15, 1937, the son of Oscar and Florene (Walton) Fredrickson. Baptized and confirmed at Immanuel Lutheran Church, he attended and graduated from Forest City High School.

On November 30, 1956, Ordean married Carmen (Awe) Holland. To this union, three daughters were born, Darla, Dawn, and Cindy. The couple lived for a short time in Wisconsin before returning to their acreage where they farmed and had livestock. Their marriage ended in 1980.

Fred worked at the Forest City Lumber Company for a time, and then in 1962, he began working at Winnebago Industries. A service technician for the WIT Caravan until the mid-1970s, Fred eventually worked many positions during his career at Winnebago. He retired in 1994 with thirty-three years of service. After his retirements, he returned to Winnebago in 1996 as a tour guide at the visitor's center until 1999.

Fred loved being in the outdoors with family and friends, whether camping, fishing, or hunting. At home, when not watching "All My Children" or getting together with his "uptown" friends, he enjoyed cooking, gardening, and spending time in his workshop. Fred also loved his annual trips to Wisconsin to visit his nieces as well as his brother and sister-in-law, Gene and JoAnn.

A devoted, loving father, grandfather, brother, and uncle, Fred will be missed.

Ordean is survived by his daughters: Darla Beck, of Forest City, Dawn (John) Brock, of Joice, Iowa, and Cindy Simms, of Baltimore, Maryland; seven grandchildren: Christopher, Jillian, Alysha, Cole, Darin, Makenzie and Taylor; two great-grandchildren, Hunter and Kiera; two sisters: Sandy (Dennis) Vestweber, of Leland, Iowa, and Shari Dakin, of Lowry Center, Missouri; and a sister-in-law, Joanne Fredrickson, of Neillsville, Wisconsin, as well as aunts, nieces, nephews, cousins, and long-time friends.

Ordean was preceded in death by his parents; his brother Eugene; his infant sons, Randy and Danny; an infant daughter; and a grandson, Branden Brock.

Funeral service will be Thursday, September 11, 2008, at 2:00 PM at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Forest City with Pastor Rod Hopp and Pastor Barb Spaulding officiating. Burial will be at Oakland Cemetery in Forest City.

Visitation will be from 4:00 to 7:00 PM on Wednesday, September 10th, 2008, at the funeral home and an hour prior to the service at the church.
