Beverly Nylene Thrond
August 15, 1933 - September 13, 2019Beverly N. Thrond, age 86, formerly of Walters and Kiester, Minnesota, died on Friday, September 13, 2019, at St. John’s Woodland in Albert Lea, Minnesota.
Beverly Peterson was born in Nunda Township, Freeborn County, Minnesota, on August 15, 1933, to Daniel and Luella (Larson) Peterson. Baptized on September 24, 1933, at Silver Lake Lutheran Church, rural Northwood, by Pastor C.T. Fjelstad and confirmed on June 6, 1948, at Sion Lutheran Church, rural Lake Mills, by Pastor Christian Notsund, she attended and graduated from Emmons High School.
On March 23, 1952, she married Arnold Thrond at Sion Lutheran Church. Subsequently, they had five sons. During their married years, Beverly and Arnold made their home in a few rural areas of Worth County, Iowa, as well as Faribault County, Minnesota. In addition, she worked with tax preparation at the Green Giant canning factory and Fleetguard Industries.
Primarily a homemaker, Beverly took her role in life very seriously. She loved her children; she spent time gardening (both flowers and vegetables), canning her produce, quilting, making lefse, playing cards, and creating Hardanger embroidered pieces. Nevertheless, she might best be known for the glorious cakes she baked and decorated. She made cakes for countless weddings, birthdays, confirmations, etc. Bev enjoyed traveling, visiting with friends and family, and especially praising her grandchildren’s accomplishments.
Her survivors include her sons: Bruce (Paty) Thrond, of Emmons, Minnesota, Paul (Jessica) Thrond, of Licking, Missouri, David (Rodica) Thrond, of Blue Earth, Minnesota, Steven (Mary) Thrond, of Walters, Minnesota, and Randy (Tina) Thrond, of Kiester, Minnesota; five grandchildren: Elizabeth (Jon) Cisar, Erin (Matt) Sweet, Ashley (Mark) Sinniah, Casey Thrond, and Lauren (Cody) Nelson; her siblings: Kitty Sandsmark, of Albert Lea, Minnesota, Duane (Betty) Peterson, of Albert Lea, Minnesota, and Gene (Joann) Peterson, of Northwood, Iowa; and an amazing friend, Bonnie Underbakke, of Albert Lea; as well as many cousins, nieces, and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents and a brother-in-law, Marlin Sandsmark.
Visitation for Beverly Thrond is scheduled for Thursday, September 19, 2019, from 5:00 to 7:00 PM at the Mittelstadt Funeral Home, 902 East Main Street, Lake Mills, Iowa. Visitation will, then, continue Friday, September 20, 2019, at Our Savior’s Lutheran Church, 605 West State Street, Kiester, Minnesota, for one hour before her funeral. Funeral services will be held on Friday, September 20, 2019, at 11:00 AM at Our Savior’s Lutheran Church in Kiester with interim Pastor Judy Wozniak officiating. Burial will take place in Silver Lake Lutheran Cemetery, rural Northwood, Iowa.
