Marilyn Murra
March 31, 1930 - August 28, 2019

Surrounded by her loving family, Marilyn Naomi Murra went to join the Lord on Wednesday, August 28, 2019, at the age of 89 at the Lake Mills Care Center.

The youngest daughter of Herman and Laura (Wahl) Schmidt, Marilyn was born on March 31, 1930, in Grafton, Iowa. Proud of her accomplishment, she became the high scorer on her high school girls’ basketball team. While working at her parents Hiway Grill in Manly, Iowa, she met her husband. John Murra, Jr. They lived in Buffalo Center where she worked for the Dairy Sweet and later the Buffalo Center Vet Clinic.

She enjoyed embroidering, knitting, sewing, playing cards, shopping, and fishing trips up North. After they retired, they enjoyed going to Texas for the winter. Marilyn valued her family. She enjoyed attending her children and grandchildren's school and sporting events. Indeed, she will be missed more than she will ever know, but her family is grateful for the time they spent together.

Those left to cherish her memory include her children: Terri (Gary) Johnson, of Elmore, Minnesota, Sheila (Doug) UIfers, of Corvallis, Oregon, Leigh Murra, of Forest City, Iowa, Harold (Martha) Murra, of White House, Tennessee, and Joy (Robby) Gelhaus, of Lakota, Iowa; her grandchildren: Amanda (Jamie) Bailey; Hunter and Shane (Rebecca) Gelhaus; Jana and John Johnson; Samantha (Ben) Matson; Jeramiah (Tiffany) Murra; and Kate Ulfers; her great-grandchildren: Frances Bailey; Drake and Kenley Gelhaus; Payton Johnson; Baby Boy Matson; and Everleigh Murra; and her sister, Rosalyn Allen, of Marshalltown, Iowa; along with several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, John Jr.; her son, Leland; and her sisters: Luella Schmidt, Marcella Braun, and Luetta Walk.
