Ray L. Sandifer, Jr.
January 2, 1930 - April 14, 2019

Ray Lomax Sandifer, Jr., 89, of Fertile, died on Sunday, April 14, 2019, at Mercy One North Iowa Hospice in Mason City.

Ray was born on January 2, 1930, in Crystal Springs, Mississippi, to Ray L., Sr., and Mildred (Paul) Sandifer. Honorably discharged, he had served in the United States Army during the Korean War.

On October 20, 1953, Ray married Dolores Jordan at the Fertile Lutheran Church. He enjoyed the time he spent with his family and especially with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Undoubtedly, he will be missed by all who knew and loved him. A long-time member of the Calvary Baptist Church, he had served in many capacities.

Those left to cherish his memory include his son, Rick Sandifer, and his wife, Kathy, of Nashua; his granddaughters, Kelly Sandifer and Kristen (Stephen) Ryland of Lewisville, Texas; three great-grandchildren: Claire, Calvin, and Elliot Ryland; and his brother-in-law, Raymond Jordan, and his wife, Deanna, of Northwood; as well as many nephews and nieces. He is preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Dolores, in 2016; and his son, Gary Ray Sandifer.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Friday, April 26, 2019, at Calvary Baptist Church in Forest City with the Pastor Doug Farrell officiating. Burial will follow in Brush Point Cemetery, rural Fertile, Iowa. Visitation will be held on Friday one hour before the services at the church. Memorials may be directed to the Calvary Baptist Church.
