Dixie L. Rauk, 83, of Forest City, died on Friday, April 19, 2019, at the Hancock County Health Center in Britt, Iowa.

Dixie L. Rauk was born in Forest City, Iowa, to Burtis and Bernice (McFarland) Benson on March 6, 1936. She attended and then graduated from Forest City High School in 1953. On June 9, 1954, she married to Carlyle James Rauk. For thirty-three years they operated a dairy farm in the Forest City area.

Dixie started Country Lefse which she operated for many years, enjoying the many hours she worked beside her sons and other family members. In addition, Dixie and Carlyle started and organized the first Frontier Days Parade and helped run this event for the next twenty years.

An active member and Lay Minister of the United Methodist Church in Forest City, she participated in her circle and organized many events and activities. Especially passionate about Faith Village, an after-school program she helped start at the church, she saw a need to keep young people constructively engaged after school.

Dixie loved her family above all else. For more than sixty years, she supported their children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren in all their extracurricular activities. Indeed, she will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved her.

Dixie is survived by her four sons: Kerby (JoAnn), Scott (Leslie), Jeff (Lori), and Kelly (Robin); nine grandchildren; sixteen great-grandchildren; and three great great-grandchildren; and one sister, Pat (Dennis) Strommen, of Forest City. Dixie was preceded in death by her parents and her husband, Carlyle, in 2012.

Memorial services will be held at 10:30 A.M., Wednesday, April 24, 2019, at the First United Methodist Church in Forest City with Rev. Jerry Swanberg officiating. A gathering of friends and family is scheduled for one hour before the services at the church on Wednesday. Inurnment of cremains will follow in the Madison Township Cemetery in Forest City. The family requests that in lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the First United Methodist Church in Forest City.
