Farrell D. Brewer
November 22, 1937 - March 27, 2019

Farrell D. Brewer, 81, of Forest City, was born on November 22, 1937, in Meade, Kansas, to Archie (Lloyd Oscar) Brewer and Mary Alice Baragree. In time, he was adopted by Henry and Murriel (Baragree) Eichman. In 1955, he graduated from Jetmore High School and then served in the Air Force from 1956 to 1960. On December 30,1965, he married Carla May Gerber Vinson. In due course, they raised Lee, Carl, Terry, and Johnna.

After earning a bachelor's in journalism from Wichita State University, he wrote for the Dodge City Daily Globe and Kansas Fish and Game. While living in Garner, Iowa, he worked for Winnebago Industries, producing RV manuals. In 1980, the family relocated to Illinois where Farrell wrote manuals for Woods Brothers. He and Carla, also, ran a Sears Catalog Store until her passing in 2013.

On April 25, 2014, Farrell married Ruth Cody Brewer. They moved to Forest City, Iowa, but after a December 2016 fall, Farrell moved into the Good Samaritan Care Center. An active Freemason, golfer, and member of the VFW, Farrell loved renovating homes.

He is survived by his wife, Ruth; five children; six grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his parents and Carla May, his wife of 47 years.

A Celebration of Life service will be held from 1:00 to 3:00 p.m., Sunday, April 28, 2019, at the Good Samaritan Center, 717 South 7th Street, Forest City. In lieu of flowers, please consider a memorial to the Good Samaritan Center.
