Sandra Mae Arnevik
May 10, 1942 - March 17, 2019Sandra Mae “Sandy” Arnevik went to her heavenly home on March 17, 2019.
She was born on Mother’s Day, May 10, 1942, in Forest City, Iowa, and raised on the family farm near Scarville in Winnebago County. The daughter of Selmer “Sam” and Myrtle (Hamsund) Arnevik, she was baptized at Bethel Lutheran Church, Vinje, Iowa, and confirmed at Immanuel Lutheran Church, Scarville, Iowa.
Sandy attended Scarville Elementary School, graduating from Lake Mills High School, LaJames Beauty School, Albert Lea Vocational-Technical College, and Westmar College. She owned and operated several beauty shops while building a career in cosmetology.
She loved listening to music, dancing, drinking coffee, and engaging in good conversation. In addition, she, especially, enjoyed a trip to Europe, one of the highlights of her life.
Besides her parents and grandparents, Ole and Engel Arnevik and Ingvald and Emma Hamsund, Sandy was preceded in death by her significant other Chuck Escherich.
Surviving her are her siblings: Jerry (Cindy) Arnevik, of Troy, Missouri, Marlin (Mary) Arnevik, of Melbourne, Florida, Sylvia (Mark) Gulick, of Johnson City, Tennessee, and Sara (Maynard) Stensrud, of Waseca, Minnesota. Although Sandy leaves no biological children, she mothered many including Chuck’s family and her own nieces and nephews and their families.
Sandy’s family will host a Celebration of Life service at 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, March 24, 2019, at Emmanuel Lutheran Church, Scarville.
