March 17, 1920 - February 19, 2019Eleanor L. Ness, age 98, died on Tuesday, February 19, 2019, at the Lake Mills Care Center in Lake Mills, Iowa.
Eleanor Adson was born in Webster County, Iowa, on March 17, 1920, to Albert O. and Anna L. (Larson) Adson. She attended and then graduated from Eagle Grove High School in 1938 and afterwards from Hamilton School of Commerce in Mason City, Iowa.
On May 2, 1945, Eleanor married Conrad A. Ness while he was serving his country during World War II. They tied the knot at Trinity Lutheran Church in Mason City. Following Conrad’s honorable discharge from the U.S. Coast Guard, the couple made their home in Fort Dodge.
Moving to Lake Mills, Iowa, in 1957, they purchased a farm, and Eleanor began working in the office of the Winnebago Mutual Insurance Association, a position she held for thirty years, retiring in 1993.
Eleanor and Connie enjoyed golfing, participating in ballroom dancing, and taking many fishing trips to Minnesota and Canada as well as to many different countries. A member of Salem Lutheran Church and the Hannah/Sarah circle for many years, Eleanor, also, actively participated in the American Legion Auxiliary, and she loved the friendships she had at the Lake Mills Senior Citizens Center.
Eleanor is survived by many nieces and nephews: Donovan, Marvin, Ronald, and William Adson; Charles and Robert Blank; Marlene Byness; Dennis and Gene Thompson; and Donna Wendell; as well as by a host of friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Conrad, on February 12, 1997; a sister, Alice Blank; and three brothers: Edwin, Leonard, and Donald Adson; and a niece, Denise (Blank) Koci.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 AM on Friday, February 22, 2019, at Salem Lutheran Church in Lake Mills with Pastor Melinda McCluskey officiating. Burial will follow in the Winnebago Lutheran Church Cemetery, rural Lake Mills. Visitation for Eleanor is scheduled for one hour before the services at the church on Friday.
