August 3, 1926 - February 1, 2019

Roger A. Graber, 92, of Forest City, passed away on Friday, February 1, 2019, at Westview Care Center in Britt.

Roger Allen Graber, a son of Archie and Mabel (Bektjorden) Graber, was born on August 3, 1926, on the family farm southwest of Thompson. Growing up, he attended country school near his home. During the Korean War, he served his country in the U.S. Army while stationed in Germany. Upon his honorable discharge, he returned home and began farming as a third-generation farmer. On December 2, 1955, he married Olive Ullestad at Bethany Lutheran Church in Thompson. They lived on the family farm where they raised their three children. Happiest when sitting on the tractor, Roger loved to farm. He continued to farm until 1991 when he retired and moved to Forest City. In 2012, he moved to Forest Plaza Assisted Living in Forest City, but for the past 18 months, he resided at the Westview Care Center in Britt. A past member of Linden Lutheran Church until it closed in 1976, he, then, joined Bethany Lutheran Church.

Roger is survived by his son, Gary (Nancy) Graber, of Forest City; two daughters, Sharon Graber of New Hope, Minnesota, and Judy Strom, of Becker, Minnesota; three grandchildren: Mark, Jessica, and Hannah Strom; and a brother, Robert Graber, of Forest City; as well as by his brothers- and sisters-in-law; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Olive, in 1998; two sisters, Maxine Larson and Betty Lago; and his brothers and sisters-in-law.

Funeral services will be held at 1:00 P.M., Tuesday, February 5, 2019, at Bethany Lutheran Church in Thompson with Revs. Rod Hopp and Doug Domokos officiating. Burial will follow at Rose Hill Cemetery in Thompson. Military rites will be observed by the Forest City Veterans Ceremonial Unit. Visitation will take place from 4:00 to 7:00 P.M., Monday, at the Cataldo Schott Funeral Home in Forest City and will resume one hour before services at the church. Memorials are preferred to KJLY Radio or Gideons International.
