Shirley Maxine Bilyeu
August 21, 1934 - January 3, 2019

Shirley Maxine Bilyeu was born on August 21, 1934, in Buffalo Center to Joe and Alice (Heitland) Cline. She grew up near Buffalo Center, attending and graduating from Buffalo Center High School. On November 10, 1952, she married Leon Ray Bilyeu in Algona. After living in Algona for a short time, they moved to an acreage west of town. She worked at Snap-on, the Good Samaritan Society, and the Algona Reminder.

Shirley enjoyed baking, cooking, reading, and tending to the simple things in life. Very caring, she had a huge heart, always willing to listen to others. Moreover, she loved spending time with family, especially with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Shirley passed Thursday, January 3, 2019, at Mercy Medical Center in Des Moines at the age of 84. She is survived by her children: Terry (Shelley) Bilyeu, of Lost Island, Brad (Amy) Bilyeu, of State College, Pennsylvania, and Shannon (Billie Hartman) Bilyeu, of Forest City; her grandchildren: Chelsea, Cody (Christina), Freddy, Jakob, Jenna, Marissa, Shawn (Kelly), and Tyler Bilyeu; Jenny (Brian) Ernst; Sadie (Nick) Meyer; Sarah (Tom) Smith; and Justin (Mari) Ulrich; eleven great-grandchildren; and her brothers, Kenny (Mary Beth) Cline, of Garner, and Larry (Donna) Cline, of Mason City.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Leon, her parents, Joe and Alice Cline; her sons, Richard and Scott; and her sisters, Darlene Schlette and Janice Bilyeu.
