Delores H. Tweeten
April 24, 1919 - March 25, 2018Delores Harriet Tweeten, 98, of Forest City, died on Sunday, March 25, 2018, at the Muse Norris Hospice Inpatient Unit in Mason City.
Delores H. (Olson) Tweeten, a daughter of John E. and Inger (Auestad) Olson, was born on April 24, 1919, at home in Grant Township. On May 14, 1939, she married Lehman Tweeten. To their union, three children were born: Sonje, Byron, and Nancy. All in all, she had four grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
They farmed until 1968 when they purchased the Forest City Bakery. After they sold the bakery, she went to work for the Forest City school system as the head baker. After retiring from the school in 1983, she spent winters in McAllen, Texas, and summers at Jefferson Lake, Cleveland, Minnesota.
A member of Immanuel Lutheran Church in Forest City, she, also, joined Our Saviors Lutheran Church in McAllen, Texas, as an associate member. Her hobbies included knitting, china painting, sewing, and doing hardanger
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Lehman Tweeten; and her son, Byron Tweeten.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be sent to Hospice of North Iowa Inpatient, Mason City, Iowa 50436. Upon her wishes, her remains were cremated and private family services will be held at a later date.
