June Ella Tweed
June 27, 1915 - December 17, 2017

June Ella (Thompson) Tweed, 102, of Britt, passed away on Sunday, December 17, 2017, at the Westview Care Center in Britt, Iowa, where she had been a resident for the last nine years.

The second oldest in a family of six, June, the daughter of Walter and Beatrice (Newland) Thompson, was born on June 27, 1915, in Forest City.

After graduating from Forest City High School in 1934, June worked at the Forest City Produce before marrying Almer Tweed on September 24, 1939. They lived on the Tweed farm between Fertile and Joice for their entire married life. Almer and June, very much, enjoyed working together as they farmed and raised their three daughters: Beverly, Marlys, and Linda. After Almer passed away in September of 1981, June moved into the Town Square Apartments in Forest City where she lived for twenty-seven years. In 2008, however, she decided to move to the Westview Care Center in Britt where she was loved and cared for until her death.

Without question, June enjoyed life!! Her grandchildren loved listening to Grandma Tweed, and they all enjoyed the best fried chicken, homemade bread, and all the other good things that they remember Grandma for. She loved flowers, gardening, baking, cooking, sewing, volunteering, entertaining guests, helping others, playing games etc., but her greatest delight came from the Lord and her family. While in the third grade, she resolved to trust Jesus Christ as her Savior and joyfully lived her life serving him.

June is survived by her daughters, Beverly McNeese, and her husband, Gale, Marlys Murray, and Linda Tweed; her grandchildren: Cherlyn (Rick) Johnson; Kendra Madrid; Brent (Kim) and Greg (Chris) McNeese; and Darren (Jackie) and Brian (Heidi) Murray; her great-grandchildren: Jennifer (Ethan) Cheville; Hannah (Tyler) Harmon; Joylyn (Matt) Ites; Josh (Mary Jo) Johnson; Daviana and Raina Madrid; Colt, Ethan (Chloe), Hunter (Maria), and Nicholas (Paige) McNeese; Ashleigh (Layne) Mosher; Adelaide, Amesha, Amren, Breana, Isabella, and Jason Murray; and Amber (Zach) Nielsen; fourteen great great-grandchildren: Olivia, Charlotte, Addison, Cheyenne, Teagen, Eum, Rosaleigh, Sawyer, Naomi, Wyatt, Henry, Orin, Kingsley, and Harper with three more expected this year.

June was preceded in death by her husband, Almer; her siblings: Lawrence, LeRoy, and Garland Thompson; May Dunn; and Gladys Hocum; and a son-in-law, Bruce Murray.

Visitation will take place on Monday, December 18, 2017, from 5:00 to 7:00 P.M. at the Cataldo Schott Funeral Chapel, 505 N. Clark Street, Forest City, Iowa. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M, Tuesday, December 19, 2017, at Calvary Baptist Church, 636 N. Best Street, Forest City, Iowa, with Pastor Doug Farrell officiating. Burial will follow at the Beaver Creek Cemetery in rural Joice, Iowa. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the Calvary Baptist Church Special Fund.
