April 11, 1937 - December 11, 2017

Allan G. “Pete” Pederson, of Lake Mills, Iowa, passed away on Monday, December 11, 2017, at the Muse Norris Hospice Unit in Mason City, Iowa, with his loving family by his side.

Allan Gene “Pete” Pederson, was born on April 11, 1937, in Lake Mills, Iowa, to Glen Edward and Nora Alvina (Shelwick) Pederson. Baptized and confirmed at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Scarville, Iowa, he graduated from Scarville High School in 1955. In 1959, he graduated from Luther College in Decorah, Iowa, with a degree in Business. After completing college, he joined the Army Reserves. Employed at both Scarville and Thompson Elevators, he worked as the Business Manager at the Thompson Elevator for thirty-five years, retiring in 2003. On February 11, 1972, Pete married Marilyn Sanden Thune. They, subsequently, made their home in Lake Mills where they raised their children.

Pete loved all sports, especially softball. Indeed, for many years, he played fast-pitch softball for Trades and Labor in Albert Lea. In 1997, he was, even, inducted into the Freeborn County Softball Hall of Fame. In addition, he liked playing golf, fishing, and collecting coins. Moreover, the family spent a week many summers at Cass Lake, Minnesota. Most importantly, however, he loved spending time with his beloved granddaughters.

Survivors include his loving wife, Marilyn; his son Jeff, and his wife, Erin Pederson, and their daughters, Nora and Gracie, all of Lake Mills, Iowa; a grandson Michael Thune, of St. Paul, Minnesota; his sister, Kayla, and her husband, Jim Wieme, of Rochester, Minnesota; and a special cousin, Curtis Reiso, of Decorah, Iowa; his sister-in-law, Carol (Dale) Gurwell, of Clive, Iowa; and his brother-in-law, Gary (Deborah) Sanden, of Centre, Alabama; along with several nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends. Pete was preceded in death by his parents; three children: Joan, Julie and Jim Thune; and many aunts and uncles.

Funeral service will be held at 11:00 AM, Friday, December 15, 2017, at Salem Lutheran Church, 401 S Lake Street, Lake Mills, Iowa 50450, with Pastor Joel L. Guttormson officiating. Visitation will be from 5:00 to 7:00 PM, Thursday evening, at the Mittelstadt Funeral Home, 902 East Main Street, Lake Mills, Iowa 50450, and again for one hour before the service at the church. Burial will take place at Salem Memorial Cemetery, Lake Mills, Iowa. The family suggest memorials be made to Salem Lutheran Church, 401 S Lake Street, Lake Mills, Iowa 50450, or to Hospice of North Iowa, 232 2nd Street SE, Mason City, Iowa 50401.
