A funeral service will be held at 10:30 AM on Friday, December 2, 2016, at the First Congregational Church in Buffalo Center. Visitation will take place from 4:00 to 6:00 PM on Thursday, December 1, 2016, at the First Congregational Church in Buffalo Center.

Ruth Marie (Schreur) Dirksen, a daughter of George and Anna (Uken) Schreur, was born on December 26, 1939. Growing up on a farm by Kanawha, Iowa, she attended Kanawha High School and graduated in 1957. Then, she enrolled at Waldorf College for one year before going to work as a teller at the Kanawha bank. On August 4, 1961, she married Larry Dirksen at the Kanawha Christian Reformed Church. They, then, moved to Britt, and after a few years, they moved to a farm near Woden. There, while helping on the farm, she worked as a CNA at the Titonka Care Center as well.

A housewife, Ruth liked gardening, working on the farm, baking, reading, and helping others. After she and Larry moved to Buffalo Center, she enjoyed riding her bike and visiting with friends. Nonetheless, she, especially, enjoyed spending time with Larry, her family, and her friends.

She is survived by her husband, Larry, of Buffalo Center; her children, David (Karen) Dirksen, of Woden, Susan (Bruce) Vriezen, of Marion, and Mike (Michele) Dirksen, of Pleasantville; fifteen grandchildren; six great grandchildren; and a sister-in-law, Char Schreur. Preceding her in death are her parents and brother, Robert Schreur.
