Bonnie M. Urban
June 21, 1931 - November 12, 2017

Bonnie M. Urban, 86, died peacefully on Sunday, November 12, 2017, at the Muse Norris Hospice Unit in Mason City, Iowa.

A daughter of Harold E. and Marvel Mae (Davis) Elsbury, Bonnie M. Urban was born on June 21, 1931, in Sutherland, Iowa. She attended and graduated from Sutherland High School. On June 25, 1949, she married Wayne M. Urban in Boise, Idaho. They moved to Lake Mills in 1961. For thirty-five years, she worked at Lake Mills Family Optometry for Dr. Ronald Jost and Dr. Dennis Thompson.

An active member of the Asbury United Methodist Church, Bonnie loved gardening and “puttering” in her yard. She never met a dog that she didn’t like. Indeed, she loved all dogs, her last dog, Muttsey, in particular. She loved shopping, finding a bargain and shopping. Did we mention that she loved to shop?

She is survived by her loving children; her son, Ron (Jan) Urban, of Columbia, South Carolina; her daughter, Kelly Krapek, of Minnetonka, Minnesota; her grandchildren: John Krapek (Becky Engel), of St. Paul, Minnesota, Annie Krapek (Joel Hilden), of Minneapolis, Minnesota, and Robert (Jordan) Urban; and her great-grandson, Davis Urban, of Savannah, Georgia; and her sister, Janet Bringle, of Spenser, Iowa; along with many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Bonnie is preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Wayne, and three brothers, Irvin, Donald, and Bernard Elsbury.

A memorial service will be held at 1:30 PM, Saturday, November 18, 2017, at the Asbury United Methodist Church in Lake Mills with Pastor Robert Lanphere officiating. There will be no visitation before the service, but the family would like to warmly invite everyone in attendance to come downstairs for lunch and sharing your “Bonnie” memories following the memorial service at the church. Inurnment will take place at a later date in Cedar Cemetery, Cherokee, Iowa.

The family suggests that memorials be made to: the Asbury United Methodist Church, 107 E Main Street, Lake Mills, Iowa 50450 or the Humane Society of North Iowa, 2700 South Birch Drive, Mason City, Iowa 50401.

Mittelstadt Funeral Home, Lake Mills, Iowa, 2017.
