Sandra Lynn Kelley
September 21, 1946 - October 24, 2017

Surrounded by loved ones, Sandra Lynn (Boe) Kelley, 71, of Lake Mills, died peacefully on Tuesday, October 24, 2017, at her home.

Sandra Lynn was born on September 21, 1946, in Albert Lea, Minnesota, to Leonard and Althea (Ruble) Boe. Sandra graduated from Albert Lea High School in 1964 and earned a nursing degree from North Iowa Area Community College in 1980. On February 19, 1968, she married Roger Kelley in Mason City. Together, they enjoyed traveling to Minnesota's North Shore and visiting family in Oklahoma.

Sandra's love of helping others led her to pursue a fulfilling career as a nurse at North Central Human Services (now Mosaic) in Forest City, Iowa, where she worked for over twenty-five years. A compassionate caregiver, her love knew no boundaries. In her professional life, she loved her clients, many of whom she considered as family. In her Christian life, Sandra showed love as a missionary, church pianist, and long-time Sunday school teacher. In her personal life, that love translated into many family camping trips and many more handmade quilts. Some of her favorite memories included spending time with family and friends, attending the Freeborn County Fair, and helping orphans on a mission trip to Romania.

Those left to celebrate her life and cherish her memory include her daughters, Shannon (Chuck) Johnson, of Roanoke, Virginia, and Tammy Smit, of Lake Mills; her stepson, Daniel Kelley, of Mason City, Iowa; her sister, Patricia "Pat" Rasmussen, of Albert Lea, Minnesota; her sister-in-law, Monica Boe, of Lake in the Hills, Illinois; and her grandchildren: Aubrey, Christopher, Destiny, Isaac, Michelle, Sara, Sonya, and Tyler; as well as many nieces, nephews, and great-grandchildren; and Larry Smit, whom she considered a son; and of course, her loving fur babies. This list does not include the many other friends and relatives who were graced with knowing her. Sandra is preceded in death by her husband, Roger; her parents, Leonard and Althea; her brother, Dennis; and her brother-in-law, Richard "Johnny" Kelley.

Family will greet friends during a visitation gathering from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m., Thursday evening, at the Mittelstadt Funeral Home, 902 East Main Street, Lake Mills. A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. with an hour for visitation beforehand on Saturday, October 28, 2017, at the New Life Christian Church, 1705 S.E. Marshall Street, Albert Lea, Minnesota, Pastor Vern Harris officiating.
