Rockwell City – Frances P. Adams, 84, formerly of Forest City, passed away on Monday, November 6, 2017, at the Sunny Knoll Care Centre, Rockwell City.

Frances Pauline Kiefer Adams was born on January 28, 1933, in Ellington Township, Hancock County, Forest City, Iowa. She attended rural school, and various city schools. After losing her parents in 1944, she grew up in her brothers’ and sisters’ homes. On June 4, 1949, she married Robert Adams at the Methodist Church parsonage in Forest City. They made their home in Forest City. Frances worked for the Central Iowa Telephone Company as a telephone operator from 1950 to 1954. Then, while living in the Happy Hollow Addition in Forest City, she was employed by Great Western Products part-time and later full-time from 1970 until she retired. Her favorite hobbies included traveling with her family on summer vacations, camping, gardening, fishing, sewing, and spending time with her grandchildren. She, also, took time to enjoy her favorite toy, her golf cart.

A member of the Women's Society of Christian Service, Frances, later, joined the United Methodist Women as well as various church circles, always ready to lend a helping hand when needed. In 1973, Frances and Bob and three of their children took a European trip to visit their daughter, Pam, and her husband, Noel, and their granddaughter, Jennifer, in Berlin. Once there, they traveled extensively. In 1989, the couple's youngest daughter, Peggy Sue, and her husband, Mark Mary III, were killed in an automobile accident near Fertile, Iowa, and the Adams were joined at their acreage by grandchildren Mark Mary IV and Amanda Sue Mary.

Frances is survived by her husband, Robert; her daughter, Pam (Noel) Heimdal; her sons, John (Holly) and Robin Adams; six grandchildren: Amanda, Gretchen, Jeffrey, Jennifer, Jeremy, and Mark; fourteen great-grandchildren: Aiden, Dylan, Emma, Haley, Jaci, Jake, Jasper, Kassara, Katlyn, Lily, Mark IV, Megan, Sara, and Zack; and one great-great-grandchild, Hadelyn; as well as many nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends. She was preceded in death by her daughter, Peggy Sue, and her husband, Mark Mary III; her parents, Valentine and Hazel (Hurd) Kiefer; and her nine sisters and brothers.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Friday, November 10, 2017, at the Palmer & Swank Funeral Home, Rockwell City, with Pastor James Hoover Mossman officiating. Visitation and viewing will take place between 10:00 a.m. and the service time, Friday, at the funeral home.
