Don Silber
March 30, 1930 - August 7, 2017Donald Silber, a son of George and Matilda (Harms) Silber, was born on March 30, 1930, at the Methodist Hospital in East Peoria, Illinois. On November 4, 1949, he married the love of his life, Emmagene Schmidt. From this union, six children were born. Over the years, he worked for various contractors in Buffalo Center. For many years beginning in 1970, he owned and operated Don's Custom Interiors until he “retired.”
Always supportive of his family and friends, Don was willing to help in any way he could. His family, always, came first. He, also, enjoyed building and making special items for his family.
Don Silber, 87, died at Mercy Medical Center, Mason City, on August 7, 2017.
Those surviving Don include his wife of sixty-seven years, Emmagene; his children: Sandra (Darryl) Friest; Amy (Bill) Griffey; and Charles (Emily), George (Kay), Jason (Danise), and Travis (Buffie) Silber; his grandchildren, Bruce, Amber, Ryan, Jamie, Rachel, Sarah, Chandra, Abby, Marshall, Mitchell, Mia, Tyler, Taryn, Emma, and Xander; twelve great-grandchildren: Andrew, Abby, MacKenzie, Natasha, Gavin, Zada, Jacob, Jared, Dominic, Malia, Sawyer, Jaxon; and his sisters, Orpha (Bill) Nelan and Jan (Charles) Munter; as well as many other brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, nieces, and nephews. His parents preceded him in death.
A memorial service for Donald Silber will be held at 1:30 PM on Monday, August 28, 2017, at Bethlehem Lutheran Church, Buffalo Center. Visitation will be held from 11:30 AM to 1:30 PM before the memorial service.
