Viola D. Merryman
November 10, 1935 - June 2, 2017WARSAW, Missouri - Viola Merryman, 81, of Warsaw, Missouri, died on Friday, June 2, 2017, at her home.
Viola “Tootie” Delores (Hagenson) Merryman was born on November 10, 1935, in Thompson, Iowa, to Elmer and Isabell Hagenson. Baptized in the Lutheran Faith, she attended school in Thompson. On March 25, 1953, she married Robert Berhow at the Little Brown Church in Nashua, Iowa. To their union, four children were born: Gescha, MaDonna, Douglas, and Timothy. On May 24, 1974, she married Duane Merryman at Bethany Lutheran Church in Thompson.
Tootie never met a stranger, had a spirited personality, and an amazing sense of humor. Because she made a point of speaking her mind, family, friend, or foe, always, knew where they stood. She worked at Winnebago Industries for thirty years first in the Shipout Department and later in the Plastics division. In 1998, she retired to Warsaw, Missouri, with her husband Duane.
She liked country living, feeding and watching hummingbirds, and experiencing milder winters. She, also, enjoyed spending time with family, friends, and neighbors, luring guests into a challenging game of 500, watching the Minnesota Vikings, camping, boating, fishing in Canada and on Lake Michigan, and frying fish at the acreage.
Survivors include her best friend/husband, Duane Merryman; four children: Gescha Heitland, of Lake Mills, Iowa, MaDonna Merriam, of Lake Mills, Iowa, Douglas (Janet) Berhow, of Forest City, Iowa, Timothy Berhow, of Jamaica, Iowa, Katrese (Don) Ebbers, of Ankeny, Iowa, and Kevin (Laurie) Merryman, of Maxwell, Iowa; fifteen grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and 2 great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; her brother, Robert Hagenson; and a granddaughter, Dawn Lunning.
Funeral services will be held at 1:30 P.M., Thursday, June 8, 2017, at Bethany Lutheran Church in Thompson with Pastor Judy Wozniak officiating. Burial will follow at Rose Hill Cemetery. Visitation will take place for one hour before the services at the church on Thursday.
