May 26, 2002 - April 23, 2017

Colby Lynn Schleuger, 14, of Forest City, died on Sunday, April 23, 2017, as a result of an UTV accident.

Colby Lynn Schleuger, a son of Curt and Gina (Cunningham) Schleuger, was born on May 26, 2002, in Mason City, Iowa. Baptized at Immanuel Lutheran Church, he was, currently, attending confirmation classes. A freshman at Forest City High School, he participated in many different activities. In addition, he loved animals and science. He dreamed of becoming a veterinarian.

Colby loved the outdoors: he enjoyed snowmobiling, dirt bike riding, hunting, shooting clay pigeons, and hanging out with his campground family. In addition, he liked playing on the computer and reading. A faithful friend to many, he had a huge heart and an enticing sense of humor.

Colby is survived by his parents, Curt and Gina Schleuger, of Forest City; his brother, Dylan Schleuger; his grandparents, Linda Cunningham and Darold and Sondra Schleuger; and his aunts and uncles, Angie (Scott Balk) Cunningham, Cheryl (Bryon) Kurtzleben, Carol (Mike) Kirschbaum, Carla (Dan) Corcoran, and a special aunt, Marie Menke; as well as by many cousins, great aunts and uncles, extended family members, his camping family, and many valued friends. Colby was preceded in death by his grandparents, Lanny Cunningham, Henry and Marie Schleuger, and Anton and Ileene Ptacek; his uncles, Bill Raw and Roger Gerdes; his aunt, Jackie Schleuger, and “Uncle Butch” Schleuger.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 A.M., Saturday, April 29, 2017, at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Forest City with Pastors Zech Anderson and Rod Hopp officiating. Visitation will be between 4:00 and 7:00 P.M., Friday, April 28, 2017, also at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Forest City. Burial will follow in Oakland Cemetery in Forest City. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the family.
