October 7, 1928 - May 8, 2017Geneva Dorothy Brackey, 88, of Forest City, died peacefully, Monday, May 8, 2017, at her home.
A daughter of Gerrit and Henrietta (Jansen) Gray, Geneva was born on October 7, 1928, in rural Lakota, Iowa. She attended school near Lakota and Buffalo Center, Iowa. On November 27, 1954, she married Orville Knutson in Albert Lea, Minnesota; he, later, died as a result of a tractor accident. On June 1, 1967, she married Duane Brackey at Salem Lutheran Church in Lake Mills, Iowa; to this union, one daughter, Kim, was born.
An active member of the Winnebago Lutheran Church, a 4-H leader, and a Farm Bureau leader, Geneva supported farming activities. In 1992, however, they moved from the family farm to Forest City. She enjoyed camping, traveling, having coffee with her friends at Hardees, and her Red hat group. Nonetheless, she, especially, enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and attending their activities. Geneva will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved her.
Geneva is survived by her daughter, Kim Isebrand, her son-in-law, Michael, and her grandchildren, Alex and Lexi Isebrand. She was preceded in death by her parents and her husbands, Orville Knutson and Duane Brackey.
Visitation will be from 5:00 to 7:00 P.M., Wednesday, May 10, 2017, at the Cataldo Schott Funeral Chapel, 505 North Clark Street, Forest City, Iowa. A Funeral service will be held at 10:30 A.M., Thursday, May 11, 2017, at the Winnebago Lutheran Church, rural Lake Mills, with Pastor Bill Peters officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. Memorial contributions may be directed to the Winnebago Lutheran Church Organ Fund, 40029 210th Avenue, Lake Mills, Iowa 50450.
