Elida A. Tapper
April 19, 1920 - April 1, 2017

Elida A. Tapper, 96, of Fort Dodge, formerly of Forest City, died on Saturday, April 1, 2017, at the Fort Dodge Villa Care Center.

A daughter of Adolph and Anna (Zielske) Friest, Elida Amanda Tapper was born on April 19th, 1920, in Big Lake, Minnesota. On June 1, 1941, she married Herman Tapper in Blue Earth, Minnesota. She worked at Winnebago Industries for many years as a seamstress. She, also, enjoyed taking care of her home and her family.

An avid gardener, she could grow anything. Moreover, she enjoyed all aspects of crafting from crocheting to making quilts, giving many of those quilts to her family. After she retired, she and Herman traveled the country delivering Winnebago RVs for many years, a job they enjoyed. Elida loved her family and the time she spent with them, and she will be, dearly, missed by all who knew and loved her.

Elida is survived by her son-in-law, Galen O’Connor, of Fort Dodge, Iowa; her son, Michael (Diana) Tapper, of Appleton, Wisconsin; her grandchildren: Rhiannon Roberts and Benjamin Vrieze, both of Fort Dodge, Iowa, Shannon Beneke, of Appleton, Wisconsin, Ashley Tapper and James Waupekenay, of Wittenberg, Wisconsin, and Nathan Waupekenay, of Appleton, Wisconsin; and fourteen great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Herman Tapper; her children, Jeffrey Tapper, Beverly (Tapper) O’Connor, and a stillborn son; her siblings: Anna (Friest) Elliott; Adolph, Lowell, and Marshall Friest; Thelma (Friest) Higgins; and Louise Melz.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M., Wednesday, April 5, 2017, at the Cataldo Schott Funeral Chapel, 505 North Clark St., Forest City, Iowa 50436, with Pastor Rod Hopp of Immanuel Lutheran Church officiating. Visitation will be for one hour before the services at the funeral home. Burial will follow at Memorial Park Cemetery in Mason City. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the Elida Tapper Memorial Fund in care of the family.
