Elaine Constance (Bergland) Ingebritson, age 93, died peacefully in her sleep at the Mayo Clinic Health Systems in Albert Lea, Minnesota, on March 16, 2017.

Elaine was born to Elmer and Ada (Thompson) Bergland on August 16, 1923, in Winnebago County, Iowa. Baptized at Winnebago Lutheran Church, rural Lake Mills, Iowa, and confirmed at North Prairie Lutheran Church, rural Scarville, Iowa, she graduated from Lake Mills High School in 1940. She taught country school for a short period and then for a few years at Thompson, Iowa.

Elaine married Marion Ingebritson on October 19, 1947, at North Prairie Lutheran Church. They lived in Thompson, Iowa, and Lake Mills, Iowa, while raising three sons. In addition, Elaine assisted Marion with the bookwork for the Lake Mills Coop Creamery for many years as well as working at the Lake Mills school cafeteria. For more than fourteen years, they owned and operated the Eastside Grocery (The Little Store) in Lake Mills. After they closed the “The Little Store,” however, Elaine worked in the Lake Mills Care Center kitchen for a few years. Once they had retired in earnest, they wintered in Mission, Texas, for twenty years.

Known for her devotion to her family, friends, and church, Elaine enjoyed gardening, baking, canning, crocheting, and quilting. Moreover, she participated in the American Legion Auxiliary and delivered meals-on-wheels. After retiring, she became an avid golfer, highlighted by her shooting a hole-in-one at the Rice Lake Golf and Country Club.

Elaine is survived by her sons: David (Barbara), of Apple Valley, Minnesota, Steven, of Fraser, Colorado, and Robert (Chung-mei), of Rockwell City, Iowa; her grandson, Jacob (Annie), of Midvale, Utah; her granddaughters: Cally, of St. Paul, Minnesota, and Ann and Tiffany, both of Taipei, Taiwan; her great-grandchildren: Myah, Tobin, and Edmond; her sister, Lorraine Wangsness; and her brother, Gary Bergland; as well as by many nieces, nephews, and friends.

She was preceded in death by her loving husband, Marion; her parents; her sister and brother-in-law, JoAnn and Robert Nelson; her brothers-in-law, Lloyd Anderson and Ervin Wangsness; her sister-in-law, Mary Jo Bergland; her parents-in-law, John and Christie Ingebritson; and Marion's siblings: Bertha, Lloyd, Julius, Nora, Albert, Ray, Lillie, Pearl, Palmer, and Margaret and their spouses.

Visitation will be on Thursday, March 23, 2017, from 5:00 to 7:00 P.M. at the Mittelstadt Funeral Home, 902 East Main Street, Lake Mills. A committal service will be held on March 24, 2017, at 10:30 A.M. at Salem Lutheran Cemetery.
