Ruth M. Dirksen
December 26, 1939 - November 27, 2016A daughter of George and Anna (Uken) Schreur, Ruth Marie was born on December 26, 1939. She grew up on a farm by Kanawha, Iowa. She attended Kanawha High School and graduated in 1957. After school she attended Waldorf College for one year and then worked as a teller at the Kanawha bank.
On August 4, 1961, she married Larry Dirksen at the Kanawha Christian Reformed Church. They, subsequently, moved to Britt, and then after a few years, to a farm near Woden. There, she helped with the farm chores and worked as a CNA at the Titonka Care Center.
A farm wife, Ruth enjoyed gardening, working on the farm, baking, reading, and helping others. After she and Larry moved to Buffalo Center, she liked riding her bike and visiting with friends. In addition, she, especially, enjoyed spending time with Larry, her family, and friends.
She is survived by her husband, Larry, of Buffalo Center; her children, David (Karen) Dirksen, of Woden, Susan (Bruce) Vriezen, of Marion, Mike (Michele) Dirksen, of Pleasantville; fifteen grandchildren; six great grandchildren; and a sister-in-law, Char Schreur. Preceding her in death are her parents and brother, Robert Schreur.
A funeral service will be held at 10:30 AM on Friday, December 2, 2016, at the First Congregational Church in Buffalo Center. Visitation will be from 4:00 to 6:00 PM on Thursday, December 1, 2016, at the First Congregational Church in Buffalo Center.
