Jerry Lee Hill
September 25, 1941 - February 24, 2017

Lovingly surrounded by his family, Jerry Lee Hill, 75, formerly of Klemme, Iowa, died on Friday, February 24, 2017, at the Muse Norris Hospice Inpatient Unit in Mason City.

Jerry Lee Hill was born on September 25, 1941, in Des Moines, Iowa. At a young age, he was adopted by Lester and Dorothy (Gelner) Hill. He attended school in Fertile, Iowa, graduating in 1959. Then, he attended a drafting trade school in Minneapolis, Minnesota. On January 27, 1962, he married Connie Awe. To their union, four daughters were born. Then, Jerry and Connie divorced. Later, Jerry met Theda Akkermann, with whom he had three sons. For thirty-five years, Jerry worked for Winnebago Industries before he retired in 2005. In addition, he worked for Boeing Aircraft in Seattle, Washington for two years. Except for those two years, Jerry lived in the Forest City area his entire life.

Lately, Jerry began collecting used clothing and household goods for the Pine Ridge Indian Reservation in South Dakota. Indeed, he had, even, become a member of the Pine Ridge Ministry Team and had, recently, participated in a mission trip to the Pine Ridge Reservation, a cause near to his heart. Otherwise, he liked gardening, reading, and watching the Green Bay Packers as well as attending garage sales and collecting many things. Above all, however, Jerry enjoyed spending time with his family and friends and will be missed by all who knew and loved him.

Jerry is survived by his daughters, Sheila (Rod) White, of Forest City, Angela (Gary) Kobriger, of Klamath Falls, Oregon, Shannon (Matt) Myers, of Boone, Iowa, and Heather (Pat) O’Neill, of Goodyear, Arizona; his sons, Joshua and Jesse (Liz) Hill, all of Mason City; his sister, Fran Steltzner, of Mason City, Iowa; his grandchildren, Ashlea (Nick) Garrison, Anthony White, Adam (Torrie) Kobriger, and Matthew and Sean O’Neill; and his nieces, Julie Steltzner, of Fort Dodge, Iowa, and Jodie Orfield, of Mason City, Iowa. He was preceded in death by his parents, Lester and Dorothy Hill; an infant son, Jeremiah Lee Hill; and a granddaughter, Lisa White.

Memorial services will be held at 11:00 A.M., Monday, February 27, 2017, at the Cataldo Schott Funeral Chapel, 505 North Clark St., Forest City, with Pastor Scot McCluskey of Galilean Lutheran Church in Clear Lake officiating. A gathering of friends and family will be held one hour prior to the services at the funeral home on Monday. Private family inurnment services will be held in Oakland Cemetery at a later date. In lieu of flowers memorials may be directed to the Pine Ridge Ministry Team, St. Andrew’s Lutheran Church, 209 Colorado Ave., Ames, Iowa 50014, or to Hospice of North Iowa.
