Donald George Stonebraker
November 9, 1939 - January 8, 2017

Donald George Stonebraker passed away on January 8, 2017, at the Westview Care Center hospice facility in Britt, Iowa.

Born on November 9, 1939, in Mason City, Iowa, to Robert and Margaret Stonebraker, Don graduated from high school in Buffalo Center, Iowa, in 1958, He, then, attended Wartburg College in Waverly, Iowa, for a year before enlisting in the US Navy where he served honorably for nine years.

In 1962, Don married Janice McGray of Clear Lake, Iowa. They had four children: Kim, of El Mirage, Arizona, Kristi, of Omaha, Nebraska, Bob, of Mesa, Arizona, and Steve, of Castle Rock, Colorado. In time, he was, also, blessed with twelve grandchildren: Austin Swalve, and his wife, Kelsey, Corin Jensen, and her husband, Nate, Ashley Beccard, and her husband, Nick, Brian Feekin, and his wife, Barley, Chelsay Cassone, and her husband, Vic, as well as with Brody, Carley, Jack, Jake, Trevar, Tyler, and Simone Stonebraker; and two great-grandchildren, Jack Feekin and Keely Swalve; his sister, Lucinda, and his brother-in-law, Arden Oelke, of Lutz, Florida.

Don spent many years selling insurance around Iowa for Continental Life. An avid motorcycle rider, he, also, loved sports, especially golfing and fishing at Leech Lake, Minnesota.

In the summer of 1998, Don attended his 40th class reunion in Buffalo Center. There, he became re-acquainted with his high school sweetheart, Clarice Wessels. They married the following year and lived in the Minneapolis area until they returned to Buffalo Center in 2016. Don passed away in the arms of his “Lovie” of eighteen years and into the arms of his savior.
