Ronald Joseph Engstler
July 11, 1937 - January 27, 2017Ronald Joseph Engstler, 79, died at his home in Lake Mills, Iowa, on Friday, January 27, 2017.
A son of Alfred Stephen and Rose (Dankbar) Engstler, Ronald Joseph was born on July 11, 1937, in Mason City, Iowa.
Ron farmed for many years and later worked at Winnebago Industries and at the Value-Added Center with 3M in Forest City, Iowa. Above all, however, he loved farming and feeding cattle. Indeed, he liked to drive around checking out the crops. An avid story teller, he enjoyed visiting with people, having coffee with friends, and spending time at the casino playing the $5 slots. He loved fishing and hanging out at the library reading papers to stay up on current events. He loved his dog Keisha, who went everywhere with him. He enjoyed attending area community celebrations and hanging out with his buddies. But most of all, he adored Ila Peterson, his life partner for over thirty years.
His memory is cherished by Ila Peterson of Lake Mills, Iowa; his siblings, Charlene East, June (Homer) Van Oort, and Russell (Monita) Engstler, all of Garner, Iowa, and Duane (Mary Lou) Engstler, of Britt, Iowa; Ila’s family, Maynard (Barbara) Peterson, of Joice, Iowa, Judy (Jerome) Hermanson, of Lake Mills, Iowa, and Karen (Duane) Moe, of Forest City, Iowa; along with numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends. Ron was preceded in death by his parents and his dog (best friend), Keisha, just four months ago.
Funeral service will be held at 10:30 AM on Tuesday, January 31, 2017, at Saint James Catholic Church, 906 W O Street, Forest City with Father James Dubert officiating.
