Ronald Paul "Rudy" Rognes
June 15, 1960 - December 07, 2016

Ronald (Rudy) Rognes, 56, of rural Emmons, Minnesota, passed away on December 7th, 2016, in a tragic house fire.

Rudy was born on June 15, 1960, in Albert Lea, Minnesota, to Jerome and Mavis (Olson) Rognes. Baptized and confirmed at Zoar Lutheran Brethren Church in Lake Mills, he graduated from Lake Mills High School in 1979. He spent his younger years growing up on the family farm in Worth County, Iowa. When he was 13, the family moved to Lake Mills. Having developed a love for motorcycles as a child, he started riding as a teenager.

At first, Rudy worked with his older brothers, Jerry and Harvey, at Rognes Brothers Excavating. Next, he worked for GM Contracting for several years before joining his older brother, Warren, at KRI Co/Rognes Corp. He, however, returned to Rognes Brothers for the last several years. A natural at operating any piece of equipment, he developed a reputation as a very skillful dozer operator. No one ever had to worry about the quality of his finished work. Indeed, fellow workers enjoyed working with him because of those abilities.

Rudy married the love of his life, Linda Boleneus, on March 27, 1999, in Las Vegas, Nevada. They made their home on a small acreage near Bear Lake in Freeborn County. Rudy loved dogs. He and Linda had many dogs over their life together, Stymie, Jubi, Hefner, Freckles, Bruiser and Pongo. They enjoyed their company very much. In addition, they raised American Bulldogs for many years. Especially proud of being a great grandpa, Rudy loved his family. Moreover, he was an avid Iowa Hawkeye fan.

Survivors include his nine siblings: Jerald (Susan) Rognes, of Lake Mills, Janice (Ronald) Eyster, of Longmont, Colorado, Marilyn (Garry) Kubat, of Longmont, Colorado, Harvey (LaDonna) Rognes, of Lake Mills, Lucy (Thomas) Bissell, of Denver, Colorado, Larry (Barbara) Rognes, of Albert Lea, Minnesota, Vivian (David) Bjornlie, of Detroit Lakes, Minnesota, Warren (Brigette) Rognes, of Ankeny, Iowa, and Julie (Ted) Pollard, of St. Cloud, Minnesota; his step daughter, Lisa (Perry) Satullo, of Albert Lea; his step grandchildren Alicia (Nick) Hoiseth, of Lake Mills, Nick Muleteer, of Albert Lea; his step great grandson, Chambers Hoiseth; twenty-six nieces and nephews; fifty grandnieces and nephews; and five great grand nieces and nephews.

Rudy was preceded in death by his wife, Linda, in May, 2016; his father, Jerome, in 2012; and his mother, Mavis, in 2015; and an infant sister, Josephine.

Memorial service will be held at 11:00 AM Saturday, December 17, 2016, at Bethel Lutheran Brethren Church, 3906 Bluebill Avenue, Joice, Iowa 50446, with Pastor Kevin Olson officiating. Family will greet friends at the church between 10:00 and 11:00 AM on Saturday before the service. Inurnment will take place at a later date at Bethel Lutheran Brethren Cemetery.
